Mercedes-Benz Launches Perfume For Men

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Mercedes-Benz Launches Perfume For Men.

Mercedes-Benz has launched a new fragrance for men simply labeled Mercedes-Benz Perfume.

The new fragrance was launched at the recent TFWA World Exhibition retail event held in Cannes, France and goes on sale in the first quarter of next year.

The particular blend has been composed by renowned perfumer Olivier Cresp (Firmenich) and will be available as an eau de toilette, after shave, deodorant, and shower and body gel.

The world of fragrance is not new to Mercedes-Benz: the company already offers exclusively developed perfumes for the atomizers in its Maybach models and in the Mercedes-Benz S 600 Pullman.

You’ll recall that in the limited edition Maybach Zeppelin, for example, an acrylic ball is used to dispense a bespoke fragrance through the cabin at the push of a button.

The latest fragrance is designed to fit in with Mercedes-Benz's other high-end accessories, which include watches and eye wear.

Elie Saab launches first fragrance

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Elie Saab launches first fragrance.

The wait is almost over: two years after the Lebanese designer Elie Saab announced his debut scent, the launch has been scheduled for this summer.

Called simply Le Parfum, the fragrance developed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian (Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier) will be available from July.

Kurkdjian came up with a flowery-woody composition of orange blossom, jasmine, cedar, patchouli, and rose honey that will come in 30, 50 and 90 ml eau de parfum bottles as well as matching body products.

If the ad starring Anja Rubik in a New York street scene looks familiar, it might be because the supermodel also features in DKNY’s current fragrance campaign, kissing her model boyfriend Sasha Knezevic on top of a New York taxi.

French houses honored at French fragrance awards

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents French houses honored at French fragrance awards.

The French fragrance foundation awarded its annual prizes exclusively to local brands last week.

Its main awards for best fragrance of the year went to Yves Saint Laurent’s Belle d’Opium, in women’s perfumes and Bleu de Chanel in the men’s category.

All other winning brands, including Lancôme, Hermès, or Biotherm, also hail from France.

The choices don’t correspond with the recent prizes bestowed by Marie Claire magazine, which used to be the partner of the official French fragrance awards: its editors’ favorites were Balenciaga Paris and Thierry Mugler’s Womanity.

France’s fragrance awards are a lot more democratic than their American counterpart — scheduled for May 25 — with seven of ten prizes being voted on by the public.

Moscow art museum honors Dior

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Moscow art museum honors Dior.

After the John Galliano debacle, Christian Dior can use all the positive publicity it can get, and a new retrospective of its history at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts sets out to bring back the fashion house’s magic.

Opening on April 28, the exhibit showcasing the brand’s 64-year history will not only present its collections over the years — designed by the founder itself as well as the likes of Yves Saint Laurent or Gianfranco Ferré — but also juxtapose them with works of art by Van Gogh or Klimt as well as photographs by Richard Avedon and Man Ray.

According to the Voice of Russia newspaper, exhibition halls will be themed, with one focusing on the flower motif, another on Dior’s work process, and so on. The luxury house’s famous perfumes as well as statement accessories will also be on display.

Opium by Yves Saint Laurent – the Legendary Fragrance

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Opium by Yves Saint Laurent – the Legendary Fragrance.

Opium by Yves Saint Laurent comes as one of the most scandalous perfume in the world of haute couture. They appeared first to shock the public and those who launched the scent were accused of promoting drugs. And yet, what made Opium by Yves Saint Laurent so popular and demanded? The aroma? The name or the reputation of the couturier?

History of fragrance

Opium by Yves Saint Laurent got the fame for the reason so clear when the maestro created the fragrant quintessence of that time which came as the eclectic symbiosis of the aggressive punk subculture with the typical sugariness and affectation of the glamorous life of 70s. That was the time of the flamboyant shocking behavior, outspoken sexual appeal, hard punk music and liking for drugs. And therefore the name of the fragrance was too more triumphant since it was associated with the intoxicating sweet aroma of the same drug. This similarity caused serious claims with the Chinese who considered the fragrance being the immediate insulting action against their national history related to the tragic facts resulted in the unrestrained supply of the narcotic opium by the British and American natives and to the territory of China.

PR-activity

Initially the idea to launch the fragrance called the Opium did not evoke positive emotions with investors. However, the logic and scrupulous approach Yves Saint Laurent applied to solve the issue convinced those who hesitated that the project was promising and worth investments. Scandalous and extravagant as ever, couturier suggested using the special approach to promote the fragrance. Four samples of the fragrance were offered to independent and fastidious judges to judge and choose the best.

The result was stunning when all of them unanimously chose Opium as the best scent among others. PR-action is like walking a tightrope when you slip and you risk falling into the ocean of platitude and vulgar taste, though Yves Saint Laurent exactly and masterly walked on the blade demonstrating the skills of the couturier of genius. A good advertising campaign based upon the provocative name, scandalous video, unique and bright scent with the special bottle all brought the fame from the launching day to break the records. The success wastriumphing.

Unusual deign

Pierre Dinand designed the bottle for Opium inspired by the Japanese Inro box to expressthe specific aroma. The Inro box was used to keep medications and personal stamp made from leather, wood, paper and glazed. The Inro box was incredibly beautiful decorated with gold, glaze and incrusted with gems, to be the object of pride and symbol of perfect taste of the owner.

The color of the bottle, the package, pattern from the leaves of bear's-breech to resemble the lacquered tiny Japanese trunks. The leaves of this plant has the other meaning as well when during antique times they were the symbol of triumph and negotiation of life tests, while at the Mediterranean territory it symbolized life, immortality and fine art. So, the design of Opium fragrance is full of special meaning.

The last stroke in the significant and concordant design of this fragrance is the small bead tying the silk threads. The zest of this is that it is like the poppy fruit case where opium is acquired.

The core of fragrance

The fragrance falls into the category of specious and woody scents. The scent is intoxicating to open the fragrance. Top notes show the cheerful orange and laurel tree leaves, treated with aldehydes strongly enough (these fragrances are known for the highest concentration of alcohol) to end with the burning aroma of the cayenne creating incredibly new blend of scents.

The heart notes of tender cove pink, luxury roses, flamboyant jasmine, ylang-ylang known as the good aphrodisiac, subtle peach flavored with the spicy notes of cinnamon to add the savory accord to the scent. All of them are blended together highlighting and contrasting with each other. Basic notes are the wonderful sweet and heavy luxurious aromas of vanilla, patchouli, sandal wood, balsamic musk and amber to give the tenderness and warmth and accentuating the floral nuances. Many of these components have relaxing effect and may evoke some erotic desire sometimes. So, the essence of patchouli can work against sexual impotence and frigidity. The musk being one of the incredible aromas adds more sensitivity and warmth to the fragrance to cry with some animal instincts.

Cacharel Amor Amor – The Scent of Youth

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Cacharel Amor Amor – The Scent of Youth.

Fashion houses that successfully launch collections of fashion wear are also sometimes involved in the new trend to launch the signature perfume to carry the concept of the trade mark. The French courtly refinement induced the tailor Jean Bousquet to found the company named after a small bird cacharel residing in the southern regions of the country. Amor, Amor by Cacharel is the accentuated lightness and romanticism as the icon style for admirers of this trade mark.

How the perfume was created

The perfume was developed in 2003 by the highly qualified expert perfumers Laurent Bruyere and Dominque Ropion for young women till twenty five who can afford to make the first step towards affair with men. The top note of Amor Amor fragrance open with the notes of grapefruit and sparkling blackcurrant, the heart notes come with accords of fruit tree white flowers and the summer garden odors, the final note is the aromatic cocktail of sensual vanilla, musk and sandal with the slight oriental veil in the end.

Ad campaign

The ad campaign for the Amor Amor fragrance presents a young girl who languishingly views a fellow in the club whom she liked and suddenly the harsh throw of the grenade bottle, and a couple of seconds later a couple is kissing in passion. A signature red bottle reminding the grenade in shape adds more vintage and elegance to the fragrance which is easily recognized today. The bottle designer, Paul Ville, as if hints at the quick and explosive win of the fragrance over any heart of men.

The fragrances are traded at the cost of $40 to $80 US dollars. Besides, the testers with pheromones will cost from $10 US dollars per 15 ml.

New series Amor Amor by Cacharel

The classic basic Amor Amor is the most incredible scent considered as the scent for first intimate dating. It is daring and swift as the wind, sensitive as the tropical rain at the dawn. The heart notes of the scent are the sweet vanilla and blackcurrant. The fragrance manufacturer

Was filled with the idea to build the line of fruity-erotic scents to touch the deepest strings of flippancy, childish sincerity, purity and outspoken sexuality and the fashion house launched the line of fragrances Amor Amor by Cacharel.

The line is designed for the following purposes:

Amor Amor Sunshine is designed for hot summer days when the slightly bitter taste of the pink grapefruit and the tender exoticism of the orchid cool the excited fancy.

Amor Amor Eau Fraiche 2006 is the scent for the particular season lavishly flavored with the fruits and covered with the vein of white flowers.

Amor Amor Elixir Passion is the sensitively sweet aroma from the romantic daydream with the shade of tiara.

Amor Amor Tentation comes as the rare blend of cedar and vanilla, the manly emancipation and sweet complaisance.

Amor Amor pour Homme is the scent for unpretentious male managers and other line managers who appreciate comfort and self ego in what they do.

The fragrance is demanded by show-biz members, politicians and other celebrities. The image for the advertisement campaign 2010 Amor Amor by Cacharel was the Brazilian top model Gisele Bündchen. Her passionate but somewhat sharp face for a woman is ideal to suit the line of perfume for daring and adventurous scents.

Such celebrities as Camille Dalma, the singer, Kate Moss, the supermodel adore the fragrances by Cacharel.

As most lines, Cacharel is also involved in production of breathtaking perfumery based on needs of young and romantic women, though there are some series for strong men, either. The major key constituent of the brand is the unobtrusive desire to be comprehended right in the approach to the perfection and the real sweet and somewhat bitter love.

Love is the aspect that goes through almost all the range of Cacharel products as the major tenor for the brand. This appeal to young ladies is appreciated and demanded.

Vintage Perfume Is All Time Demanded

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents  Vintage Perfume Is All Time Demanded.

Vintage comes as the fashion trend especially for items of clothing which is from the time of the past. Apart from vintage clothing, the accessories found in trunks and boxes in the attic are found to be vintage which should complement and accentuate the style women opt for including watches, hats and perfume. Vintage perfume in XXI century is the special trend in perfumery.

On the whole, vintage is the item from the past that was popular at the time it was used and that demonstrates the style of that time period. Vintage for 21st century is perfumeries which were highly demanded some decades ago and there are some principles to regard.

Vintage perfume is that launched over fifteen years ago as the upper margin. The low margin is not specified at all. And this is because perfumery experienced the blooming in the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century. Age is no the only factor, though. And this is not because the perfume was launched fifty years ago but it was the real triumph for that time.

Classic perfume is that produced till 60s of 20th century. They have the history and persons who loved and used those fragrances have passed away already, but we still remember their likings for fragrances. And the essential criterion is when the perfume is the parity of the time. Thus, it is quite difficult to opt for vintage perfume without knowing the history of them.

Perfume is not considered as vintage in USA unlike clothing which is sold at auctions at so swift a pace and for the fortune. There is the risk to get the different scent than you lined in the closed bottle since perfume needs tender storage, and second, it is the low price for it, around $10USD per 50 ml. However, vintage scents still extract attention to their rare nature for the latest ten years, especially in Europe.

Many people say they cannot wear vintage cologne versions, since they appear to look sour onto the skin. And this is why vintage perfume is liked or not. Discontinued perfume is also vintage and most often because the considerable cost of components: natural amber, musk and species cost a fortune to use regularly.

Perfume launched in the early 20th century is also considered as vintage which are still loved and purchased like Chanel №5 by Chanel, Krasnaya Moskva and Landysh serebristiy by Novaya Zarya Factory, «Byt mojet» from Poland. Besides, some perfumery houses still launch the series of vintage fragrances. So, Chanel offers the exclusive line of retro fragrances known as Bois de Isle and Cuir de Russie totaling around ten scents. The bestsellers of Guerlain Perfumeery House come as Jicky, Mitsouko and Shalimar.

There are found some boutiques in Italy and Great Britain that trade in vintage styled perfume. Actually they sell unfamiliar perfumery acknowledged in smaller groups in early 20th century. So, the Penhaligon's, an English perfume house, that was the perfume supplier to the British Royal Family, has launched perfume since the late 19th century. Audrey Hepburn and Ava Gardner preferred the perfume by Acqua di Parma brand and Sharon Stone still uses it today.

Most popular vintage perfumes by the reputed houses are fragrances by Dior, Guerlain, Chanel, Caron, Creed, D'Orsay, Acqua di Parma and Roger&Gallet. The most popular come as the following:
  • Perfume with the basic wood notes as Vetiver and Xerius by Givenchy.
  • Floral accords launched by Nahema by Guerlain, Madame Roshas by Roshas, Narcisse Noir by Caron, Chanel №5, Nocturnes by Caron.
  • With citric notes as Eau de Lanvin by Lanvin, Drakkar and Eau Folly by Guy Laroche, Eau de Rochas by Rochas.
  • Oriental notes were offered by Nilang by Lalique, Tocade by Rochas, Organza by Givenchy and Habit rouge by Guerlain.
When getting vintage perfume, do not feel like ridiculous and absurd since these fragrance are evaluated by generations as well as by the world-known celebrities as Giorgio Armani who prefers Knize Ten created in 1931, Karl Lagerfeld with his liking for Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, the cologne launched one hundred and fifty years ago. The perfume can be as old as the century and as new as launched a week ago, but it should go with the person to accentuate the image.

Aldehyde Perfume – Secret Scent for Today

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Aldehyde Perfume – Secret Scent for Today.

The first aldehyde perfume created by the legendary perfumer Ernest Beaux was triumphant enough to make any fashion house winning, though Coco Chanel was the one who realized the triumph and glory of that scent, strong and concentrated. She launched her own aldehyde perfume Chanel №5 which became the legendary fragrance of the epoch, the epoch of synthetic scents to become the vintage one for now. Today most perfumers talk about natural components they prefer to use for their fragrances, though aldehyde scents are still demanded being on the top of ratings for over one hundred years enjoyed by most women of the world.

The way aldehyde perfume appeared

A range of discoveries were taken before the aldehyde fragrances glorified. Till 1889 all fragrances were based on natural components by the complex technologies used which made the price higher. Later on, in the 19th century the chemists learned how to analyze the scents and initiated researches which were successful to bring the first new synthetic scent in 1874 - the scent of vanilla. Soon after, the researchers discovered the coumarin, which is the synthetic note of the green fern. In 1884 the musk was discovered for the wide public. The well-known perfumers as Guerlain and Hobigan experimented with new substances and gradually launched the first half-synthetic perfume Jicky based on sandal wood and coumarin. To add some lily odor for Quelques Fleurs, Hobigan used the chemical in 1912 named as hydroxycitronellol and ten years later the absolutely synthetic fragrance was launched, and that was Chanel №5.

Coco Chanel faced against the other, the well-known perfumer Ernest Beaux in 1920 who worked for Rallet in Grasse for many years in Provance, the sacred place for most perfumers. Beaux elaborated the new formula which was offered to the most reputed perfumeries of the time, the Coty. When the company learnt the price of the product, it refused to manufacture the cheap item. Coco Chanel showed the extremely different opinion. She was sure she was looking for the delicate and refined scent to initiate her own perfume story. And the parties concluded that Beaux continued his elaborations with the prototype.

The basic components were may rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, viverra, neroli, and musk with the notes of vanilla and wood. When Beaux added some aldehydes, Chanel №5 turned into the scent we know today with the typical synthetic scent. Since then the perfume has been put to mass production.

What is aldehyde?

Aldehydes are known as chemicals with the concentrated odor of the rancid butter though they smell as flower when they are diluted properly. The aldehyde fragrances are exceptional since the perfume smells differently from person to person, depending on the smell of the body of the particular person while contacting. The aldehydes also add some richer nuances to some notes of the composition and they can work to imitate some natural smells as rare rose compositions, costly species from the East.

Aroma of aldehyde fragrances

It is fairly difficult to differ between the aldehyde and powdery, chypre and oriental scents, though each of them can show differences. As the reputed perfumers state, aldehyde fragrances come as heavy and oily as the odor that comes from the candle blown out. The fragrances that proved to be classic like Jicky, Chanel №5, Climat Lancome and Madame Rochas, live in neighbourhood with quite young scents as the nice First by Van Cleef & Arpels, Armani Mania by Armani loved by millions of women, the stunning cologne Aqua Pour Homme Marine by Bvlgari, and the fascinating White Linen by Estee Lauder.

On the top of it, the group of aldehyde perfume welcomes new Spirit for Men byAntonio Banderas with the vivid and masculine scent of fresh and green woods. One of aldehyde fragrances for women is Azzaro high tech duo: Now Women and Now Men. Azzaro Now Women based on two basic accords of the composition, that is relaxed and vibrant white tea at the top, aldehydes, jasmine Tahitian Tiare and aquatic notes in the heart, with the base composed of rose wood, light wood, amber and rum. The perfume was created by Annie Buzantian in collaboration with Alberto Morillas.

Word is out that Lady Gaga will be releasing a fragrance of her very own, but unlike every other celebrity perfume, hers might actually make people smell worse. The pop star’s fragrance, which will be available in Spring 2012, will allegedly smell like a combination of blood and semen! She has named the special scent Monster, in reference to her fans, but perhaps because of its frightening odor as well.

Honestly, we can’t say we expected anything different from the woman in meat dresses and straight jackets – we give her credit for staying true to her controversial self. But what we want to know is: will anyone actually wear this fragrance? Surely we can count on a “Little Monster” or two to invest in Lady Gaga’s newest creation, but is it something we’ll spritz on as we’re leaving the house, or will it sit on our shelves forever as Gaga memorabilia? One thing is for sure: we can’t wait to see what she does with the bottle!

As much as we want to declare this scent a Gaga original, she is actually not the first one to come up with bodily fluids as a fragrance. Etat Libre D'Orange has a fragrance on the market called Sécrétions Magnifiques, but in addition to blood and semen, that particular concoction contains a hint of sweat and saliva too. Ew.

So what do you think? Will you gag when you get a whiff of Gaga’s fragrance or is the trendsetting pop icon on to something?

Reed Krakoff’s First Fragrance

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Reed Krakoff’s First Fragrance.

The Reed Krakoff Collection was first shown at New York Fashion Week last February, and it launched in September. It includes ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewelry, small leather goods, sunglasses, watches, and accessories – a designer grab bag. Krakoff’s goal with his limited-edition fragrance is to create a “beautiful, quality, artisan-inspired product. His attention to detail is evident in the bottles for the fragrance, which are handcrafted by the Seguso family in Murano, Italy.

The house has produced high-quality glass since the 12th century. The bottles are rendered in four colors: gray, nude, silver fleck, and clear – using the sommerso technique, which involves creating a bottle within a bottle. The inner bottle is shaded with the chosen color, while the outer shell is clear. It’s very “Danish” looking to me – very modern.Oddly, the bottles are sold empty, but include two refills of the fragrance. The scent, an eau de parfum, is described as opening with a blend of black pepper, bright aldehydes, and neroli extract. It has a heart of French hyacinth absolute, white peony, and violet leaf extract, and a dry-down of vetiver heart, precious vetiver absolute, and orris concrete.

Only 100 of each color bottle will be produced, all four varieties containing the same fragrance. The bottles are hand-numbered, and each will retail for $695. Krakoff is aware that the limited run and high price tag of the scent will put it out of the reach of many people. When she wears it, she feels enveloped in a veil of well-being, happiness, attractiveness, and enlightenment. It intoxicates her like no other scent. The bottle adds to the experience – a center of attention on a spare dressing table – the most important possession on her vanity. She is self-confident and happy when she wears her fragrance, not because she is the only one within miles who can afford it, but because it’s her path to zen. This fragrance sounds divine. The notes are intriguing, and I would love to get my hands on a sample.

Cartier de Lune Fragrance

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents fragrance news about Cartier de Lune Fragrance.

Luxury jewelry house Cartier is launching a new white floral fragrance this winter called Cartier de Lune. Cartier perfumer Mathilde Laurent perfected the juice.

The eau de toilette features bright top notes of pink pepper and juniper berries; a heart of honeysuckle, wild rose, cyclamen, bindweed and lily of the valley; and warm base notes of white musk and sandalwood.

The bottle is the color of the sky at dusk and features a silver top with beading detail reminiscent of a Cartier necklace that bears the same name.

Cartier de Lune is an eau de toilette bottled at 1.5oz for $75. The fragrance is available at luxury retailers including Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Scent Secrets: Ron Chavers of Infusion Organique

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Scent Secrets: Ron Chavers of Infusion Organique.

Launched in 2008 by a group of fragrance and cosmetic vets, Infusion Organique combines the best of organic extracts and oils to create simple scents inspired by tropical locales around the world. Ron Chavers developed the brand, along with sisters Carole and Gladys Vialars, and it is clear that good scents were in his blood.

No stranger to the industry, Chavers’ father was the Vice President of Hermes Fragrance Division and upon his graduation from USC, Chavers decided to follow his father in the family business. “I started in sales with Borghese, moved on to Cartier and was hired as VP of Sales for Giorgio Beverly Hills when I was 23 years old,” Chavers said.

Having worked for some of the biggest names in the industry, from cosmetics to retail, quality is something Chavers would never compromise. “As a manufacturer, I always wanted to show people that we understand the quality they are striving for,” Chavers said. “The best way to do that was to create a product line of our own as an example of our own standards.”

Infusion Organique does not claim to be 100 percent organic or completely chemical free, however, it’s for a reason. “We use sound cosmetic chemistry formulas (paraben free and sulfate free) and ‘infuse’ as many organic botanicals, oils and extracts as possible so that our products are more sustainable and have scents truer to nature,” Chavers said. A glance at the ingredients, shows that, unlike organic perfumers, Infusion Organique does use alcohol. Chavers contends that in order for perfume to perform the best, it needs alcohol. “Alcohol is still the best raw material to transfer a perfume to your skin,” he said. However, the alcohol is naturally derived from sugarcane, making it gentler on the skin. Yum, can we put that in a cocktail?

Infusion Organique has four scents on the market – Buddha’s Fig, Sands of Morocco, Indochine and Acaí Rain – each representing a different piece of the globe. Chavers said it’s no coincidence that his scents seem like a trip to exotic locations, because that is where he gets his inspiration. “I’m inspired by trips that my wife and I have taken with our two girls,” Chavers said. “Whether it’s Cambodia and Vietnam or Bali, Europe, Hawaii or India… our travels have left a tremendous impression on each of us.”

Acaí Rain is his most recent concoction and delectably sweet with notes of acaí, raspberry, currant, white peach and warm undertones of orange and vanilla. The powerful floral bouquet may have you mistaken for a Brazilian berry, just a spritz on the wrist or a spray around your home, and you’ll be transported to the lush jungles of Brazil without the hefty airline ticket.

Also, due to the popularity of the petit parfum in the home, Infusion Organique has created a line of room sprays in each of the four scents.

Infusion Organique is available for purchase at Apothia at Ron Robinson|Fred Segal, and online at InfusionOrganique.com and b-glowing.com.
