Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sold Out

This is the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible. It's arguably the most desirable four-seat convertible on the market, and the first one to come out of Italy in decades. It's been engineered with input from Ferrari, has room to carry you and three of your friends for one of the best wind-in-your-hair experiences available. You may want one, but you can't have one. Because they're sold out.

The model – also known as the GranCabrio overseas – has helped Maserati rebound to pre-recession sales levels in the United States, while the GranTurismo coupe and Quattroporte sedan have failed to recovered. The new convertible, with its myriad customization choices, has proven so popular that there's now a waiting list to get your hands on one. That's what we'd call a success.

The Ultimate Luxury Candle

Read about The Ultimate Luxury Candle!!

Women love scented candles. So much so that there is now an entire aisle dedicated to them at the supermarket. But let’s be honest, people. Bringing home an apple-pie scented Glade candle isn’t going to win you many points with the wifey. Gentlemen, here is a candle that will get you major brownie points.

This beautiful black soy candle comes in Welcome Home’s signature Champagne Noir scent, and comes wrapped in a gorgeous black box tied with a beautiful satin bow. But that’s not all it comes with. The candle also comes with a diamond bow necklace with 38 sparkling white diamonds designed by Bucci jewelers. Now that’s a scented candle.

Welcome Home describes The Ultimate Luxury Candle as, “Meticulously hand-crafted, the stunning pendant is encrusted with 38 brilliant diamonds, 2.23 carat total weight. G color, VS clarity, set in 14 carat white gold…Diamonds, ‘Champagne’ and Candles, the perfect trio. We can’t think of a better gift.”

Actually, come to think of it, neither can I.

The World’s Most Expensive Mobile Phone App?

The Safecell app is an in-flight mobile phone solution that uses the phone’s Bluetooth link to turn it into a wireless data communicator and entertainment system. Interested? Great, it only costs around $12,500, making it possibly the world’s most expensive mobile phone app.

The company behind this app, ASiQ Limited, has a justification for its premium price point. It says that unlike conventional aircraft mobile phone systems that cost a good half a million dollars and are locked to the global mobile roaming network making mobile services on air extremely costly, Safecell connects the cell phone to an onboard satellite link using Bluetooth to operate the device outside of the mobile roaming network and provide a cost-effective, roaming-free mobile voice and data solution.

The app is presently available for Blackberry and Symbian-based phones.

Most Expensive Hotel Suites

Read about the most expensive hotel suites!!

Hotel Meurice

The most expensive Parisian hotel room is the Belle Etoile Suite at the Hotel Meurice, located on the Rue de Rivoli. The penthouse suite is reached via private elevator, where it opens onto a marble entry hall. The entire suite is decorated in a Charles X style – heavy drapery, intricate wood paneling with gilt edges, chandeliers and murals.

The Ciragan Palace Hotel Kempinski

The Ciragan Palace Hotel Kempinski in Istanbul, located along the Bosporus, was originally the home of the last Ottoman sultans, and different incarnations of the property have been built (and torn down) since the 16th century. The building was bought by the Kempinski hotel group in 1986 and underwent a renovation in 1991.
Today, the hotel comprises two structures (the actual palace and the new hotel), and the Sultan’s Suite is the most expensive room there.

Regent Beverly Wilshire

The Regent Beverly Wilshire is the grande dame of L.A. hotels and happens to be the same age as the Academy Awards. Located on the 14th floor of the Beverly Wing, the 5,000-square-foot Penthouse Suite features three bedrooms, a wraparound balcony, a formal dining room, living room, kitchen and den, and is decorated with contemporary furniture. The master bathroom has floor-to-ceiling windows, two glass-enclosed showers, remote control toilet/bidet with a heated seat.

The Fairmont Hotel

The 6,000-square-foot Penthouse Suite at the Fairmont Hotel on San Francisco’s Nob Hill takes up the entire eighth floor of the hotel and has three bedrooms, a dining room that holds 50 people, an eat-in kitchen and a two-story, domed library with a ceiling painted with the constellations.
There is also a billiards room covered floor-to-ceiling in Persian tiles, and four fireplaces inlaid with lapis lazuli. The bathroom fixtures are made of 24 karat gold, and a secret passageway is concealed behind the bookshelves on the library’s second floor.

Hotel Cala di Volpe

The Costa Smeralda (“Emerald Coast”), on the eastern coast of Sardinia, became famous during the 1960s when the Aga Khan bought it and convinced his jet-set friends to start building villas and a yacht club on the beautiful but previously undeveloped island. The coast also served as the backdrop to the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.

The split-level Presidential Suite has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and two sitting rooms. The highlight is the private, outdoor saltwater pool on the second floor. The style is rustic but luxurious, with whitewashed walls, exposed beams, thick down cushions and wooden accents. The bed frames are wrought iron, and the tiles are hand-painted ceramic. The suit also has its own gazebo and solarium, as well as a DVD library and Bang & Olufsen stereos.

Westin Excelsior

Rome’s “Villa La Cupola” suite within the Westin Excelsior has all things Roman and excessive – a cupola, a Pompeii-style Jacuzzi pool, frescoes and stained glass windows. Located on the fifth and sixth floor underneath the cupola of the hotel (which was made famous by Fellini’s movies), the suite covers 6,099 square feet and has an additional 1,808 square feet of balconies and terraces. While it only has two bedrooms, five more can be joined to it.

The stained glass windows in the living room detail allegories of a mythological figure paired with a modern one, such as Atlas and Television, Hypnosis and Neurosis, Hermes and Marketing, and Hermaphrodite and Fashion. The downstairs also has a private kitchen, and the dining room features an antique Murano glass chandelier, a private wine cabinet and an antique mosaic-tile-covered dining room.

The Plaza Hotel

The 7,802-square-foot suite covers nearly the entire 18th floor of the Plaza, with views overlooking Central Park. The walls are covered in silk, the reception area has a 10-foot-wide stained glass window and the hand-painted piano depicts scenes from the French countryside.

The suite has five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, two living rooms, a dining room, powder room and sauna. There are also three marble fireplaces, a terrace and a 2,000-bottle wine cellar (guests are charged extra for indulging). The Presidential Suite also comes with the use of a secretary/butler and the Plaza’s chefs are at your disposal.

The Martinez Hotel

The Martinez Hotel in Cannes likes superlatives and bills itself as having the biggest, most expensive and only terraced penthouse suite on the Cote d’Azur. Perhaps some of this is Gallic swagger, but the price of the suites certainly makes them one of the most expensive in Europe. Both penthouse suites are 8,000 square feet and are decorated in the hotel’s signature Art Deco style, with streamlined furniture, silk curtains and teak parquet floors.

While many of the hotel’s rooms are painted in bright colors (peach, lime green), the penthouse suites are decorated in muted, understated tones (brown, cream and tan). Each suite has two bedrooms, a Turkish bath, kitchen, personal sauna and views of the Lerins Islands as well as the entire Bay of Cannes. The wraparound terrace is 2,000 square feet and can comfortably hold 100 people. It also has a Jacuzzi. Technophiles will appreciate the Bose plasma screen televisions and telephones and the DVD library. A private butler is on call 24 hours a day, and other amenities include use of a limousine, open bar and the option to join both suites into one grand apartment.

President Wilson Hotel

At the sleek, modern President Wilson Hotel in Geneva, security takes as much precedence as luxury. Faster than you can say “Frette linens,” the hotel’s staff reassures guests that the security in the Imperial Suite is among the best in the world, ideal for celebrities or traveling heads of states who visit the United Nations headquarters next door at the Palais Wilson.

The Imperial Suite, which takes up the entire top floor of the hotel, is reached via a private elevator and has four bedrooms, all of which overlook Lake Geneva. The suite is decorated in a contemporary style, with marble and hardwood floors, and the bay windows overlook Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. Off of the master bedroom is a dressing room as well as a study, and the suite has five bathrooms, all with mosaic marble floor, and a Jacuzzi and steam bath in the main bath. The living room has a billiards table, a library and a cocktail lounge with a view of the water fountain, and can accommodate 40 people. The dining room seats 26 people around an oval mahogany table.

The Atlantis

The Atlantis Bridge Suite has the distinction of being the most expensive hotel suite in the world which accounts to $25,000 a night. Found on Paradise Island, Bahamas. The Bridge Suite is located on top of a bridge that connects the two Royal Towers buildings, so it overlooks the entire resort and marina.

The ten-room suite is decorated in red, black and gold and comes with its own butler, bar lounge and entertainment center as well as 12-foot ceilings. The master bedroom has a sitting area, his-and-hers closets, and hand-painted linens. The bathrooms have chaise lounges, marble baths, and dolphin fixtures. For those who are picky about their personal space, there are two separate master bathrooms.

Dinosaur Mobile Phone with T-Rex Tooth & Meteoric Stone

Gold, platinum, diamonds and crystals have become common for Stuart Hughes. He had been looking for something even more exclusive and rare, as a result gave world’s first Dinosaur mobile phone.

Stuart has come up with a material with a past that dates back 65 million years. He had stunned the world when he created the world’s most expensive aquarium fitted with a real T-Rex bone. Now he has put together a tooth of a 65 million year old T-Rex and meteoric stone to dress up the rear of the iPhone 4. Resourced from Arizona, US, Stuart worked on blending both these historic remnants perfectly for this phone.

The Dinosaur mobile phone has 8.5ct ‘IF’ flawless diamonds on the rim and a diamond studded Apple logo set in platinum on the rear. This piece of history is priced at $63,000 and will be crafted in a limited edition of ten only.

Paco Rabanne Launches Women’s Edition of 1 Million Fragrance

After having sold more than 1 million bottles of fragrance for men, Paco Rabanne has launched its female counterpart – the Lady Million.

A joint effort by IFF’s Anne Flipo, Béatrice Piquet and Dominique Ropion, the fragrance was recently presented in Paris to French and international press along with the avant-garde designer’s iconic metal dresses. Designed by trained sculptor Noé Duchaufour-Lawrence (who also made the 1 Millionth bottle), the Lady Million is a graceful and tantalizing scent in a multi-faceted bottle with a softly gilded metal cap, which serves a symbol of the designer’s famous metal dresses. The shape of the bottle that resembles a multi-faceted diamond was inspired by the famous Regent diamond.

Lady Million is a fresh woody floral with top notes encompassing floral nectar, lemon, and raspberry that gradually blend into a heart of orange blossom, neroli, and sambac jasmine (an Asian bloom). Bottom notes contain patchouli, gardenia, and honey.

Lady Million will be available in eau de parfum, body lotion, and shower gel at fine department and drug stores (The Bay, Sears, Sephora, Shoppers Drug Mart, Jean Coutu, and London Drugs) and will retail from July as a 50ml and 80ml edp spray, priced at around €52 and €68 respectively in travel retail.

FYI: The fragrance took 19 months to create, and 2,500 different versions were tested before the right formula was reached.

Louis Vuitton’s Tribute Patchwork Bag – $45,000

Louis Vuitton’s Tribute Patchwork Bag, LV’s most expensive handbag, has an even higher retail price. This hideous bag, made in 2007 from fifteen other bags exhumed from LV’s fashion graveyard their summer and cruise lines, to be exact actually sold out fairly quickly. One can only hope that the supply, limited to only twenty-four numbered bags, had more to do with that than high demand.

Hermes “Birkin” – $64,800

While a Hermes “Birkin” bag retails at $37,000 USD, the highest amount paid for one of these bags was $64,800 USD, sold at a Doyle New York auction in April of 2005. This black crocodile-skin features silver hardware, 14-karat white gold closure plates paved with 174 diamonds and an additional 310 diamonds on the lock. The 484 diamonds weigh in at 14.11 carats.

Leiber Precious Rose – $92,000

There’s a lot more going on with this purse than that, however. It’s lined with metallic kidskin and features 1,016 diamonds (42.56 carats), 1,169 pink sapphires and 800 pink tourmalines. For the purse’s metal components, Leiber used 18-karat white gold. Only one was ever made and it’s no longer available from Leiber’s boutique.

Lana Marks’ Cleopatra Clutch – $100,000

Lana Marks releases just one of these limited edition bags per year. Pictured here is the 2007 bag, made with metallic silver alligator skin and 1,500 fully cut, faceted black and white diamonds set in an 18-karat white gold frame. Each year’s bag is signed and numbered.

Chanel “Diamond Forever” Classic Bag – $261,000

The alligator-skin bags featured clasps set with 334 diamonds (3.56 carats) in the shape of Chanel’s trademark double-C logo. Eighteen-karat white gold was used to fashion both the clasp and the bag’s long shoulder straps.

Ginza Tanaka’s purse – $1.9 million

The most expensive purse in the world is a unique bag created by Japanese jewelry house Ginza Tanaka. It shouldn’t surprise you that the most expensive purse is covered in diamonds over 2,000 diamonds totaling 208 carats, in fact but the bag’s other features make it truly special. The luxurious handbag will be on display in several stores across London during the first ever London Jeweler Week. It’s being offered by jewelry shop Nicholas James for the phenomenal price of US $2 million.

World’s Most Expensive Model Car

The most expensive model car in the world!

To a collector of model cars, a model of the Bugatti Veyron might be the centerpiece of their collection. It is, after all, the world’s most expensive car. Of course, for the truly dedicated—and well off—collector, the only option is the world’s most expensive model car.

The Bugatti Veyron Diamond Limited Edition, a collaboration between luxury designer Stuart Hughes and Swiss model car engineer Robert Gülpen, is a 1:18 scale replica of the ultimate luxury car, rendered in 24k gold, platinum and 7.2 carats of single cut flawless diamonds.

The hoods and steering are functional and the engine is highly detailed. This fantastic model car weighs in at 15 pounds and took two months to produce.

Only three of the most expensive model car in the world have been created, each accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, glass house, aluminum case and photographic documentation of its manufacture. Even more phenomenal, the Bugatti Veyron Diamond Limited Edition costs twice as much as the car on which it is based—US $3 million.

World’s Most Expensive Golf Carts

Lets read about the Most Expensive Golf Carts!

It shouldn’t be surprising that golfers, numbering doctors and other affluent individuals among their ranks, have some fairly expensive pieces of equipment available to them. From clubs to bags and even ball markers, there seems to be no end to the luxurious versions of standard golf equipment.

Hummer H2 golf cart – $19,999

Based on the military’s HMMWV, or Humvee, Hummer proved popular in the States before General Motors’ bankruptcy forced them to look into selling the brand. This Hummer H2 body kit, licensed by GM, is built over a 3.75 hp aluminum club car chassis. The electric cart is an NEV capable of speeds up to 20 mph and includes headlights, turn signals and brake lights. As for convenience, the cart also includes a cooler under the hood, storage under the seat, a tinted windshield, fog lights, glove boxes, a fold-down tailgate and, of course, drink holders. It’s stamped with H2 logos on the sides and rear bumper and has another pair of bumpers embroidered into the seats. It even has the option of either a carbon fiber or wood grain dashboard.

Garia Edition Soleil de Minuit Golf Car – $52,000

From the Porsche factory in Finland comes a golf car with practically any feature you could ask for. The aesthetically pleasing cart is a limited edition of the standard Garia golf car with custom paint, two-colored hand-stitched seats and a carbon roof lined with alcantara, as well as standard Garia features such as two golf bag carriers, a painted utility box, scratch-resistant side skirts, a scorecard and penholder on the steering wheel. Perhaps the most impressive Garia feature, though, is the optional dashboard refrigerator. You’ll never want for a cold drink on the links again.

Garia LSV – $62,000

This model of Garia’s expensive golf cart has one significant advantage over its less expensive predecessors–it’s street legal. Equipped with seatbelts, side mirrors, hydraulic brakes and a 4 hp electric motor capable of speeds up to 25 mph, this luxury golf cart has all the safety features necessary to allow it to be classified as a roadworthy low-speed vehicle. Like the Soleil de Minuit, above, the LSV may also be equipped with such amenities as hand-stitched seats, digital instrumentation layout, a stereo and a dashboard refrigerator. If you order directly from Garia, you can even customize the Garia LSV with your choice of over 100 different body, roof and dashboard colors, three different colors of upholstery and 10″ or 12″ wheels.

Celebrity Cruises Newest Luxury Liner Sets Sail

Luxury Cruises: At sea a mere two days to become acquainted with Celebrity Eclipse, recently added to the cruise line's premium Solstice Class ships in 2010, I had a dilemma. How to spend a leisurely hour of my precious but limited time?
Among my choices: relax in Café al Bacío over a cup of Expresso Macchiato and Pistacchio Sicilia Gelato, lounge on the pool deck accompanied by max-strength sunscreen and a stylish straw hat or nap in the grass of The Lawn Club (on Deck 15, it's an industry first - more than one-half acre of real, growing grass).

In a perfect world, the answer would be to indulge in all. But should a sole selection be mandatory, my preference was none of the above. Instead, I curled into a white leather chair to read in the Library. Sound boring? Perhaps. But was it? Never. This stately library is the two-floor focal element of the ship's dramatic atrium. Best part: It overlooks the center of activity only a cruise ship can provide.
My mini-visit was a happening. Veteran travelers collected to preview the ship during its North American debut; and among its guests was the vessel's Godmother, Emma Pontin, a U.K. yachtswoman.
The Eclipse did not disappoint. Stats are superlative: accommodating 2,850 passengers, 90% of staterooms offer outside views, 85% have verandas; dining venues number at 10, there are 12 bars and lounges. And at a length of 1,033 feet (the equivalent of 71 traditional London black taxi cabs) and 121 feet in width (visualize 4.4 double-decker buses end-to-end), it would take Formula One champion Jenson Button 4.5 seconds to drive its length at 155 mph.
Impressive? Absolutely. But when Celebrity president and CEO Dan Hanrahan said of the Eclipse, "Here, you're not going to find rock climbing walls or a relocated Statue of Liberty," I was hooked.

Celebrity imparts more class, less kitsch.

Tasty Temptations
Of the ten dining venues, five are specialty restaurants and all have their own distinctive menu and accompanying ambience. I sampled a delicious selection.

Qsine
Interactive, innovative and too interesting to miss, a Culinary Tour Guide (i.e. waiter) guides you through your dining experience, one that presents classic concepts in unexpected, new-to-the-scene ways. Evidence: It's one of the world's first restaurants to feature a menu and wine list on an iPad.

The menu illustrates the eatery's playfulness. Examples: Sushi Lollipops (served on lollipop sticks), Chitini (think Chinese/martini inspiration), Lobster Escargot, Taco Royale (black Angus sirloin steak, homemade taco shells, caramelized onion-polano and do-it-yourself guacamole).

The dessert menu is different, too. Designed like a Rubik's Cube, you'll find selections by pivoting the puzzle-an individual cookie jar or perhaps frost-your-own cupcakes with the provided assortment of icings and toppings.

Make your reservations early; for if Qsine were landlocked, it's where you would spot a competing chef on his night off.

Tuscan Grille
An Italian steakhouse with large circular booths, oversized furniture and must-order entrées such as Bistecca Toscana Ribeye (blackened steak with Cajun-spiced butter and "mac and cheese").

Oceanview Café
Though said to be the casual dining choice, you'll be overwhelmed with mouth-watering possibilities: made-to-order curry, pasta, sushi, pizza and stir-fry stations...all enhanced by made-to-order ocean views.

Among additional selections: Blu (health-inspired "Clean Cuisine"); Murano (Solstice-style blend of class and modern Continental cuisine with wonderful finale selections, Grand Marnier and Chocolate Souffles); Bistro on Five (think Paris and a traditional creperie); AquaSpa Café (healthy, lighter choices served in the Solarium) and Moonlight Sonata Dining Room (in addition to exceptional food, its exceptional feature is a dramatic two-story glass wine tower).

Pampering Possibilities AquaSpa
My massage with technician, Anna San Diego, was the closest I've experienced to Lomi Lomi since my reluctant departure from a massage table in Hawaii years ago.
Of course, the ultimate treat is the 24-Karat Gold Facial, utilizing rose quartz and a pure 24-karat gold leaf mask. A more active choice is the Body Sculpt Boot Camp. But whatever your selection, allow ample time to retreat to the spa's private window-lined relaxation area at the ship's bow.

Entertainment
Imagine a show that takes you on a whirlwind tour of the most famous musicals of Broadway and London's West End, complete with a two story-curved stairway and descending stage. See the production "Ovations" and imagine no more - it's the closest to Broadway that I've witnessed at sea.

"Edge" is a dazzling showcase of dance. With performers suspended over the stage encircling the audience and dancers ricocheting from bungee cords, it's an exciting departure from the norm.

Shopping
With 18 venues-from Shops on the Boulevard (Deck 4) to Galleria Boutiques (Deck 5-your most posh purchase would be from the Eclipse Collection-an 86-facet Solstice Diamond (a design never cut prior to its exclusive availability on Solstice Class ships).

Deal makers:
Personal Concierge
Functioning much like a personal assistant, this crew member's exclusive goal is to implement Eclipse's "designed for you" reputation, whether it's to create a special occasion or to arrange a private shore excursion.

Solstice Deck
This getaway in a double recliner on the top deck (Deck 16) is remote, removed from the action and a slice of heaven.

Martini Bar
The "it" spot, this is where to sip a French Martini (recipe: vodka, raspberry schnapps, pineapple) and sit at the frosted bar top - the perfect accessory for a chilled drink.

Self-guided Art Tour
Using an iPad, you'll be steered through the ship to view its eclectic and extensive collection of original, contemporary art.
Lemongrass-based body products
Formulated exclusively for Celebrity, they're provided in each stateroom.

At-your-service attitude
The crew's continual warm greetings underscore the initial intention behind the Celebrity name-a cruise line that treats all guests like celebrities.

Deal breaker:
Time
There were too few hours to experience everything Celebrity Eclipse brings to the seas. Solution: Schedule a very lengthy cruise.
