Top chef Joel Robuchon opens Singapore restaurants

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Top chef Joel Robuchon opens Singapore restaurants.

French celebrity chef Joel Robuchon on Wednesday announced the opening of two restaurants at a casino resort in Singapore, his first outlets in Southeast Asia.

L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, a workshop-inspired concept with chefs closely interacting with guests, and the more formal Joel Robuchon Restaurant will open on Thursday at the seaside Resorts World Sentosa complex.

Robuchon, 66, has received more stars from Michelin, the leading guide to fine dining, than any other chef in the world with a total of 26 so far.

There are 22 restaurants carrying his name, from Paris and other European cities to Las Vegas, New York, Tokyo, Nagoya, Hong Kong, Taipei and Macau.

“Today we are very happy to be in Singapore, especially because when we travel around the world, we meet a lot of Singaporean guests,” Robuchon said.

“They are very refined, very elegant, they know their wines very well, they know their food very well. So it is a very good time to be in Singapore right now,” he added.

The 54-seat Joel Robuchon Restaurant is a fine dining restaurant serving classic French cuisine “with the quality of service of a three Michelin-star restaurant,” a press statement said.

L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, with 52 seats, is more experimental and draws inspiration from the preparation of Japanese cuisine and the atmosphere of Spanish tapas bars, it added.

Malaysian-owned Resorts World Sentosa and Singapore’s other casino complex, US-owned Marina Bay Sands, have attracted foreign celebrity chefs keen to tap into the affluent Southeast Asian and international tourist market in Singapore.

Mario Sorrenti to shoot next Pirelli calendar

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Mario Sorrenti to shoot next Pirelli calendar.

The illustrious calendar’s casting director, Jennifer Starr, has confirmed that Italian photographer Mario Sorrenti is 2012′s Pirelli man, Stylecaster reports.

Other fashion sites, including Fashion Copius and Fashionologie, had previously assumed that Steven Meisel would capture next year’s edition.

Karl Lagerfeld, Terry Richardson, or Patrick Demarchelier were chosen to shoot the calendar, which is commissioned by Italian tire company Pirelli, in past years.

Sorrenti, who is best known for his artful nudes in the pages of magazines such as Vogue, is expected to bring back a high-fashion feel following Lagerfeld’s timelessly elegant and Richardson’s sexually provocative pictures.

This year’s model cast, which regularly includes the freshest and most famous of faces, has not been confirmed.

Pirelli’s calendar gets released at the end of the year, but only to a handful of the company’s clients and business partners.

A more accessible option is French Vogue’s yearly calendar, for instance, which is just as racy and fashionable and which also enlists the world’s top photographers and fashion models.

Ralph Lauren car collection goes on display in Paris

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Ralph Lauren car collection goes on display in Paris.

A selection of cars owned by fashion legend Ralph Lauren will go on display in Paris this week, in a unique exhibition of one of the world’s most distinctive collections.

Ralph Lauren, who famously described cars as “moving art” in his 2004 book Speed, Style and Beauty, owns an extensive collection of vehicles which is rarely seen by the public — until now.

Seventeen models selected from the 1930s until the present day will be on display, offering a unique glimpse at the tastes of a major name in the fashion world.

Among the exhibits will be the Bentley Blower of 1929, immortalized in Ian Fleming’s early James Bond novels, a Mercedes-Benz SSK from 1930 owned by racing driver Count Carlo Felice Trossie and a Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe, one of only four ever made (and only two that remain).

Ferrari fans are well catered for — there are four in the collection — with a 375 Plus from 1954 (designed under the direction of Pinin Farina himself) and a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa from 1957 by automotive legend Sergio Scaglietti.

Ralph Lauren has collected the sounds of the engines online and to celebrate the launch, a Discovery Channel documentary on Ralph Lauren’s cars will be broadcast in France, Belgium and Switzerland on July 2 and July 3.

The Art of the Automobile is open April 28 through August 28 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Arabian fantasy for royal wedding

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Arabian fantasy for royal wedding.

Luxury hotels in the United Arab Emirates are offering their guests an Arabian fantasy as Britain’s Prince William marries Catherine Middleton on Friday.

The Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, promises “a majestic experience fit for a king and deserving of an emperor” and said it wants to make the day unforgettable for its guests too.

The Palace, which bills itself as a seven-star hotel, offered an overnight stay from a modest $450 to $1,500 (300-1,010 euros) with a royal high tea thrown in.

“We are making sure to have them enjoy a unique wedding in a unique set up and surrounding,” said Emirates Palace general manager Hans Olbertz.

The hotel has suites going up to $11,500, according to its published rates. “Come and join this Arabian fantasy,” the hotel invites its guests. Included in the prices is a free buffet breakfast.

Dubai’s landmark Burj Al-Arab which is designed to resemble the sails of an Arabian dhow, offered a chance to win free nights at the super luxury hotel for those joining the royal wedding party there.

“Be sure to arrive in your finest dress and have a chance to win a two-night stay… for the best dressed, most elegant hat and most stylish couple,” the hotel said.

It said it will be “business as usual for Burj Al-Arab” on Friday although the popular Friday brunch will be turned into a “grand royal brunch” where a “bottle of the bubbly” will be thrown in on the house.

Most restaurants and bars in the UAE plan to show the day’s events on big screens hoping to cash in on the royal wedding fever that also coincides with the weekend in the region.

Kim Kardashian loves wearing her false lashes – but she applies them in a way that make them look totally natural! Kim’s makeup artist shared some times with People magazine on how to apply the perfect false lash just like Kim does!
  • First, be sure to apply lashes in a natural feathering pattern. So starting at the inner eye, place individual lashes in places where you natural lash line is sparse.
  • For an easy application tilt your head up and look down so you can easily touch your lashline while looking on the mirror.
  • Allow your lashes to dry for at least a few minutes (wait 10 minutes if you have just to be safe!) before you apply mascara. Be careful not to apply too much mascara to the false lashes.
Believe it or not, Kim loves the drugstore false lashes by Andrea (starter kit pictured above).

Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress Designer Revealed

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress Designer Revealed.

There were numerous speculations surrounding the fabulous gown the bride-to-be will wear on the big day. Now the latest gossips talk about Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer. It’s not a world-wide known name still it attracted the attention of the future princess. Find out more about the honored designer to envision the bridal ensemble for the royal wedding.

Style critics and tabloids are keen to find out the tiniest details about the wedding dress of Kate Middleton. As one of the most sought-after subjects of the moment, it launched a multitude of speculations. First everyone is curious about the actual designer of the gown, then we’re looking forward to explore the style, length together with extra details.

This time the newest royal wedding gossips claim that Kate Middleton’s dress designer is finally revealed. Sarah Burton as the creative designers of the high class fashion house Alexander McQueen, Bruce Oldfield and even Alice Temperley were only some of the most prominent style gurus as potential designers of Kate’s gown. However this time the list is completed with another name that might not sound that familiar to the audience.

Sophie Cranston is the mastermind behind the stylish Spanish label Libelula. The beloved designer who won the Designer of the Year Award at Graduate Fashion Week in 1999 and also worked for Alexander McQueen envisioned a bridal collection that apparently won the heart of your princess-to-be.

Fans have the chance to find out this super-intriguing detail of the royal wedding from Yvonne York the royal correspondent of Huffington Post. In spite of the fact that Kate already flaunted her fondness for this brand by wearing a stylish velvet coat by Libelula for a wedding last year, she still managed to keep the name of one of her favorite bridal gown designers in secret.

Yvonne York claims that, “From what I’ve uncovered – the reason the palace did not announce the designer’s name (as they did with the Emanuels who were confirmed just one month after Diana’s engagement) was to protect Cranston and her family from media scrutiny for as long as possible, and to allow her the freedom to create the wedding gown of Catherine’s dreams without additional pressures and distractions.”
Furthermore another fascinating information is leaked according to which the gown won’t be the sole creation of Sophie Cranston as Kate had also some precious ideas that contribute to the success of the designing process.

The Daily Mail also reveals that the bride-to-be also designed a dress on her own created following a Renaissance art pattern decorated with pearl button details, 10ft train and produced of ivory satin and lace. If the news are plausible we’ll have the chance to spot a truly mesmerizing and unique royal bridal gown.

Opium by Yves Saint Laurent – the Legendary Fragrance

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Opium by Yves Saint Laurent – the Legendary Fragrance.

Opium by Yves Saint Laurent comes as one of the most scandalous perfume in the world of haute couture. They appeared first to shock the public and those who launched the scent were accused of promoting drugs. And yet, what made Opium by Yves Saint Laurent so popular and demanded? The aroma? The name or the reputation of the couturier?

History of fragrance

Opium by Yves Saint Laurent got the fame for the reason so clear when the maestro created the fragrant quintessence of that time which came as the eclectic symbiosis of the aggressive punk subculture with the typical sugariness and affectation of the glamorous life of 70s. That was the time of the flamboyant shocking behavior, outspoken sexual appeal, hard punk music and liking for drugs. And therefore the name of the fragrance was too more triumphant since it was associated with the intoxicating sweet aroma of the same drug. This similarity caused serious claims with the Chinese who considered the fragrance being the immediate insulting action against their national history related to the tragic facts resulted in the unrestrained supply of the narcotic opium by the British and American natives and to the territory of China.

PR-activity

Initially the idea to launch the fragrance called the Opium did not evoke positive emotions with investors. However, the logic and scrupulous approach Yves Saint Laurent applied to solve the issue convinced those who hesitated that the project was promising and worth investments. Scandalous and extravagant as ever, couturier suggested using the special approach to promote the fragrance. Four samples of the fragrance were offered to independent and fastidious judges to judge and choose the best.

The result was stunning when all of them unanimously chose Opium as the best scent among others. PR-action is like walking a tightrope when you slip and you risk falling into the ocean of platitude and vulgar taste, though Yves Saint Laurent exactly and masterly walked on the blade demonstrating the skills of the couturier of genius. A good advertising campaign based upon the provocative name, scandalous video, unique and bright scent with the special bottle all brought the fame from the launching day to break the records. The success wastriumphing.

Unusual deign

Pierre Dinand designed the bottle for Opium inspired by the Japanese Inro box to expressthe specific aroma. The Inro box was used to keep medications and personal stamp made from leather, wood, paper and glazed. The Inro box was incredibly beautiful decorated with gold, glaze and incrusted with gems, to be the object of pride and symbol of perfect taste of the owner.

The color of the bottle, the package, pattern from the leaves of bear's-breech to resemble the lacquered tiny Japanese trunks. The leaves of this plant has the other meaning as well when during antique times they were the symbol of triumph and negotiation of life tests, while at the Mediterranean territory it symbolized life, immortality and fine art. So, the design of Opium fragrance is full of special meaning.

The last stroke in the significant and concordant design of this fragrance is the small bead tying the silk threads. The zest of this is that it is like the poppy fruit case where opium is acquired.

The core of fragrance

The fragrance falls into the category of specious and woody scents. The scent is intoxicating to open the fragrance. Top notes show the cheerful orange and laurel tree leaves, treated with aldehydes strongly enough (these fragrances are known for the highest concentration of alcohol) to end with the burning aroma of the cayenne creating incredibly new blend of scents.

The heart notes of tender cove pink, luxury roses, flamboyant jasmine, ylang-ylang known as the good aphrodisiac, subtle peach flavored with the spicy notes of cinnamon to add the savory accord to the scent. All of them are blended together highlighting and contrasting with each other. Basic notes are the wonderful sweet and heavy luxurious aromas of vanilla, patchouli, sandal wood, balsamic musk and amber to give the tenderness and warmth and accentuating the floral nuances. Many of these components have relaxing effect and may evoke some erotic desire sometimes. So, the essence of patchouli can work against sexual impotence and frigidity. The musk being one of the incredible aromas adds more sensitivity and warmth to the fragrance to cry with some animal instincts.

Vintage Perfume Is All Time Demanded

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents  Vintage Perfume Is All Time Demanded.

Vintage comes as the fashion trend especially for items of clothing which is from the time of the past. Apart from vintage clothing, the accessories found in trunks and boxes in the attic are found to be vintage which should complement and accentuate the style women opt for including watches, hats and perfume. Vintage perfume in XXI century is the special trend in perfumery.

On the whole, vintage is the item from the past that was popular at the time it was used and that demonstrates the style of that time period. Vintage for 21st century is perfumeries which were highly demanded some decades ago and there are some principles to regard.

Vintage perfume is that launched over fifteen years ago as the upper margin. The low margin is not specified at all. And this is because perfumery experienced the blooming in the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century. Age is no the only factor, though. And this is not because the perfume was launched fifty years ago but it was the real triumph for that time.

Classic perfume is that produced till 60s of 20th century. They have the history and persons who loved and used those fragrances have passed away already, but we still remember their likings for fragrances. And the essential criterion is when the perfume is the parity of the time. Thus, it is quite difficult to opt for vintage perfume without knowing the history of them.

Perfume is not considered as vintage in USA unlike clothing which is sold at auctions at so swift a pace and for the fortune. There is the risk to get the different scent than you lined in the closed bottle since perfume needs tender storage, and second, it is the low price for it, around $10USD per 50 ml. However, vintage scents still extract attention to their rare nature for the latest ten years, especially in Europe.

Many people say they cannot wear vintage cologne versions, since they appear to look sour onto the skin. And this is why vintage perfume is liked or not. Discontinued perfume is also vintage and most often because the considerable cost of components: natural amber, musk and species cost a fortune to use regularly.

Perfume launched in the early 20th century is also considered as vintage which are still loved and purchased like Chanel №5 by Chanel, Krasnaya Moskva and Landysh serebristiy by Novaya Zarya Factory, «Byt mojet» from Poland. Besides, some perfumery houses still launch the series of vintage fragrances. So, Chanel offers the exclusive line of retro fragrances known as Bois de Isle and Cuir de Russie totaling around ten scents. The bestsellers of Guerlain Perfumeery House come as Jicky, Mitsouko and Shalimar.

There are found some boutiques in Italy and Great Britain that trade in vintage styled perfume. Actually they sell unfamiliar perfumery acknowledged in smaller groups in early 20th century. So, the Penhaligon's, an English perfume house, that was the perfume supplier to the British Royal Family, has launched perfume since the late 19th century. Audrey Hepburn and Ava Gardner preferred the perfume by Acqua di Parma brand and Sharon Stone still uses it today.

Most popular vintage perfumes by the reputed houses are fragrances by Dior, Guerlain, Chanel, Caron, Creed, D'Orsay, Acqua di Parma and Roger&Gallet. The most popular come as the following:
  • Perfume with the basic wood notes as Vetiver and Xerius by Givenchy.
  • Floral accords launched by Nahema by Guerlain, Madame Roshas by Roshas, Narcisse Noir by Caron, Chanel №5, Nocturnes by Caron.
  • With citric notes as Eau de Lanvin by Lanvin, Drakkar and Eau Folly by Guy Laroche, Eau de Rochas by Rochas.
  • Oriental notes were offered by Nilang by Lalique, Tocade by Rochas, Organza by Givenchy and Habit rouge by Guerlain.
When getting vintage perfume, do not feel like ridiculous and absurd since these fragrance are evaluated by generations as well as by the world-known celebrities as Giorgio Armani who prefers Knize Ten created in 1931, Karl Lagerfeld with his liking for Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, the cologne launched one hundred and fifty years ago. The perfume can be as old as the century and as new as launched a week ago, but it should go with the person to accentuate the image.

Pumice Stone for Manicure

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Pumice Stone for Manicure.

A woman is the creature to exert attention and she needs to have nice look, nice clothing, trendy hairstyle, neat shoes. Every single element in her image is to contribute to the perfect image. And the way her nails are done is also essential. No matter long or short nails she wears, they should be only neat and well-cared. Lots of remedies are offered to struggle with ageing changes and rough skin of hands, and among them manicure using pumice stone distinguishes with its natural elements and delicate treatment.

When hands are cared, they need to be prepared for manicure. We talk of two kinds of manicure, classic with trimming and European without trimming. Dry and wet methods are applied with no-trimming manicure, as well as cuticles are removed with the special chemicals or special creams based on fruit acids and manicure with pumice stone.

One of the important methods when giving a manicure is use of a pumice stone. It's a must for manicure today. The pumice stone loosens cuticles, removes dead skin and helps prevent hangnails. Manicure with pumice stone is used when a woman prefers European manicure, though she has allergic reactions to reagents or when a woman tends to have natural caring methods.

As we know, pumice stone is often used for pedicure since the natural rock stone is ideal to treat hardened callus and plantar callosity. The two types of manicure with pumice stone are known. The first method is when hands are soaked in hot water (special emollients are welcome) and the softened cuticle is removed with the help of neutral cream with rough pumice particles. For example, the price for the special cream with pumice by the American brand ORLY is high enough, though it is worth spending some amount of money for it is perfect trimming cream and money-saving product.

The second technique is when the cuticle is removed with the special pumice file after nails are soaked in hot water. In both cases the unnecessary skin is removed easily and painlessly.

Manicure with pumice stone has its positive element since it is the natural approach to remove hardened cuticle and hangnails. The longer time for this procedure can be the drawback for the pumice manicure.

Manicure with pumice stone may be done in beauty salons and at home. When you you’re your nails done at beauty salons, take care that the manicurist disinfects the hands and tools before they are used for you.

Once you have your nails done by professionals, you can learn some steps to try manicure at home. There are no contraindications to using manicure with pumice stone, though persons suffering from psoriasis and various skin diseases should be careful since skin should not be soaked in those cases.

Basic rules to do manicure with pumice stone for exfoliation purpose:
  • When you come with the decision to have your nails done at home, get a bath with hot water for hands, cream with pumice stone particles or the whole stone, the emollient, fragrant component.
  • In case you have no emollient, add some slices of lemon, several drops of olive oil and a tablespoon of sea salt into the bath. Before you steam hands, shape your nails with the file.
  • After the hands are steamed, rub the cleanser with crushed pumice stone into the skin avoiding the area of nail plate. Gently press at the nail bed and cuticle with the pumice stone to loosen the cuticle and remove any excess hardened skin.
  • Take attention that pumice stone for manicure should have finer particles not to injure the tender skin of hands. Some pumice stones may be jagged and harsh to use on the skin. You should never cause bleeding with a pumice stone. Dry hands and carefully push the cuticle back with an orange stick, metal pusher or plastic pusher. After they are done, apply some nourishing cream.

Black Gold – Fine Metal for Fashion

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Black Gold – Fine Metal for Fashion.

Today black gold is revealed its inner features to get trendy and elite. The gold radically changed the color to become the part of trendy collections by reputed jewelers. It is worthacquiring by the wealthiest persons to turn into the trendy metal for daily use. It is independent and luxury, unique and classic, modest and provocative at the same time.

The authentic black gold is not mined as the ordinary gold but produced in scientific laboratories instead on the base of ordinary yellow gold by various technologies. The black color is achieved when cobalt and chrome are oxidized together at high temperature, or when the yellow gold is covered with black rhodium or amorphous carbon. Nevertheless, the technology of acquiring black jewelry is not known to all jewelers in details. And therefore, black gold is still cloaked in mystery and magic.

And this could be the reason why black gold is not the frequent component in designer collections of famous jewelers in spite of the fact that black jewelry was first exhibited at Вasel-2001. However, in 2004 Fawaz Gruosi actively demonstrated the precious metal in his collections creating amazingly gorgeous jewels based on this metal. The other jewelers prefer introducing black gold in their collections step by step, jewel by jewel, being concerned about some negative response from public. However, this unique metal found the way to hearts of the elite for obvious reasons. Whereas brown gold is the base of the current season, designers are anticipating the further «darkening» of the precious metal to black color.

Elegance and delicateness of the black gold is the absolute reasons why it is loved by the elite society. And in view of these features compared with the classic yellow gold, this dainty metal has the sufficient ductility and strength to create incredibly beautiful jewelry from it. As an example, blue, green and violet gold is too fragile and can serve as insets into some other basic metal. Apart from unique color, the black precious metal keeps its high strength at the quite high purity. So, yellow gold .750 is too soft and it easily abrades with usual wear and tear, and therefore it is preferred for solemn functions and events that happen rarely. Unlike the yellow gold, the black gold of the same purity can be used every day causing excitement and adornment from the surrounds with the elegance of the jewelry.

The dark color is exclusive as such as well as the white color, and when the delicate fine work by the reputed jeweler is presented in dark color, it is worth acquiring. Men tend to accentuate on the black gold for their accessories opting for this metal for the match of elegance and manhood, and moreover, black and white is the classic math winning forever. So, in the nearest future we can expect a greater number of black jewelry for men and dark color watch bracelets. This metal is likely to replace the yellow gold and even titanium in Swiss watches.

Most jewelers caught the fancy of the white gold and platinum mostly for the reason that any diamond on the ground of white metals shines with brilliance of purity, even with some yellowish insertions and other defects. Rubies, emeralds, sapphires, topazes play for showy colors on the lighter background. And therefore the match of two shades at least are usually employed when the basic part is made from yellow, pink or red gold, while the white gold served as the background for the play of precious stones.

The black gold is considered as the metal to discolor with precious stones since it darkens the shine of them making it dull and changes the color. Black diamonds seem not to get dull on the black background. However, the jeweler Fawaz Gruosi experimented with colors and found out that emeralds and rubies on the dark background look less glamorous but more ceremonial, while diamonds show every single facet of play. The person non-expert in jewels and purity can easily notice the quality of the stone on the ring or necklace. And thus, it is thanks to black gold that defects and drawbacks are hard to conceal, and advantages can be only revealed, in regards to crystals minerals and humans, on the whole.

Semi-Precious Stones – Glittering Symbols

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Semi-Precious Stones – Glittering Symbols.

Mohs scale of hardness put the start to division of stones for precious and semi-precious and in ancient times various stones ere appreciated for various cases. So, the Egyptians preferred jewelry from emeralds, turquoise, amethysts and rock crystal while the Romans loved diamonds and sapphires. During the Renaissance and baroque epochs wealthy people preferred rubies, sapphires and topazes while the rococo period dictated diamonds to glitter on clothing. So, stones were selected to match the clothing, the mood and personal preferences.

Ensembles of people of the romanticism period were mostly decorated with precious gems giving beauty to the world around and the heart of people. That was the time when stones were attributed the special symbol, when every single semiprecious stone had the particular meaning. Jewelers of that time acted as designers and healers when they helped to select the stones of particular meaning for particular person to match their emotional and physical needs.

The impact of the precious and semi-precious stones on the human organism, the physiology, feelings and emotions are known from old times, though with every year the scientists and researchers looked for more evidences of interaction between stones and humans, stones and planets, connecting macrocosmos and microcosm. And even today, use of semi-precious stones as talismans and healing elements is not absurd and influence of minerals on humans is proved through centuries, yet, the symbolism in jewelry is back again.

This is required especially when many of us can afford precious stones to own, and rare diamonds and emeralds are still mined hardly ever. Unlike them, rare and unique stones can be acquired for the reasonable price due to huge amount of semi-precious gems. Some semi-precious stones appear more expensive than precious stones, though, due to sizes and unique features. It is worth stating that whatever demanded is the market of fake precious gems, semi-precious stones are also imitated. Alexandrite lost its positions among semi-precious gems which was the elite stone in the high society in Russia in old times when the great number of fake stones without unique features and beauty cut use of alexandrite as the jewelry stone for clothing and decoration.

Onyx, nephritis or jade and turquoise are often faked, though the real beauty of natural stones allows finding the difference between the fake gem and semi-precious stone. Lately the number of fake gems decreased since semi-precious stones somewhat outdated, and the jewelers gave their fundamental concentration to precious stones. However, today semi-precious stones are in again in the niche of elite jewelry as additional crystals to highlight the glimpse of real jewels or individual jewelry items. A wide range of colors, matte texture, translucency and other features, semi-precious stones win the market of jewelry gradually allowing creation of unique and exclusive jewelry items with exceptional and rare minerals.

It is known that most semi-precious stones cannot boast with long and prominent history though most of them bear the particular symbolic meaning to serve as talismans to protect particular Zodiac sign persons or persons of particular profession or particular social group members. So, superstitious sailors keep emerald while sailing, artistic people prefer tourmaline or amethyst, and small children are advised that they wear moonstone.

According to superstitions, the moonstone is the mineral that helps kids grow intelligent since the mineral is believed to stimulate mental activity and increase skills to sciences. The garnet is considered the stone for those who are in love, for friends and who believe in friendship and loyalty. The mineral sparkles and glitters in blood-red glares when a person obsession with passion wears it. And every Zodiac sign has particular stones and minerals especially assigned to protect, to highlight individual features and help control negative emotions.

Art of Jewelry in Ancient Russia

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Art of Jewelry in Ancient Russia.

The jewelry art in Russia was impressive for the masters from ancient Europe. Yet, today fashion designers are also captivated with ancient art of jewelry to borrow the ancient techniques and decorations to create their own items. So, the temple rings were transformed into earrings of larger size, and charms today come as pendants, al the items are done using the technique of blackening, filigree and plique-a-jour which are still exploited today.

The art of jewelry in Ancient Russia was fascinating for Europeans since not only western technologies were used by the Russians. The links with merchants from the East had also affected the development of Russian craft work. Unlike the refined geometry figures most likely used in the East, Russian designers mixed various techniques which resulted in items of incredible beauty and performance.

One of the famous tendencies is granulation technique when thousands of fine metal beads are welded to one and the same item creating the magic play of color without using precious metals and stones. Here, the basics of jewelry craft work was used to make with the help of molding when the wax was used for more expensive and limited jewels, and stone mold were used for mass production items.

Due to filigree technique, whether superimposed or laced, the light and dynamic relief ornament was created. Today filigree is most known in the world as one of fine craft works and lately the bracelets done with this technique are too popular. In the 12th century, when items were made for mass production, one of the popular techniques were engraving ad blackening onto silver, while the background was made dark with the lighter picture and image above.  The technique was skilful enough to create elegant and refined miniatures.

In spite of the fact that most jewelry was lost during the Mongol overlordship, the archeologists managed to restore some unique jewelry items after. So, pairs of hollow golden and silver pendants fastened to the headwear on chain used by the urban beauties within 11th-13th centuries can create the interest and concern of fashionmongers from today with the fine performance. Especially the golden pendants decorated manually with the river pearls and prints of the fancy birds with women hair made in the technique of the plique-a-jour.

The Grivna of Vladimir Mononmach is known to be lost and discovered by archeologists later. This chased medallion of the 11th century showed the lady’s head on one side rounded by eight snakes with the pray against diseases in Greek language, and the other side showed the archangel Michael who was assigned to protect the jewel owner from devilish intrigues. The finest performance of the medallion is too skilled that the jewel was estimated as the size of Prince contribution from the average city according to scripts of that time.

The term «jeweler» appeared in 13th century in Russia and due to new techniques and active use of precious stones the jewelry art was found in its bloom that period. In the early 19th century the Russian designers elaborated their own style different from the European standards, and almost every single jeweler had their own features and peculiarities.

Every master had his own style, his own unique jewelry items which were appreciated at the court of the Russian Emperor and by the royal families of other countries. Thus, the Easter Faberge eggs, different from egg to egg, were ordered by the Emperor for his family, while cheaper works of the jeweler like cigarette cases were afforded by less wealthier persons. Today Russian designers still launch unique works of art, staying faithful to roots, and, thus, many jewelry items made in Russia are still highly demanded at the world market.
