Spring 2011 Trend: the 70s Are Back!

The luxury Lifestyle blog (the home of luxury Lifestyle) presents Spring 2011 Trend: the 70s Are Back!

You've heard it from Rachel Zoe, and now it has been confirmed – the 70s are back! Not the denim shorts and beaded headbands, but the Halston and Yves Saint Laurent 70s fashion that was all about super luxurious fabrics, decadent prints and silks, and above all else, glamour. Etro is reintroducing flared pants, we're seeing jumpsuits and lamé at Marc Jacobs, and magazines and celebrities are putting their spin on all sorts of 70s-inspired outfits.

Georgia May Jagger's latest spread in British Vogue's January issue (above) shows her wearing big floppy hats, crochet swimsuits, and high-waisted boots and shorts. Kate Hudson has always sported a Los Angeles 70s luxe vibe, with floaty sundresses, luxurious white pantsuits, and fishtail gowns on the red carpet. Nicole Richie, Rachel Zoe, and Kristen Bell can't wear enough huge sunglasses, faux fur vests, and beautiful prints that evoke the bohemian glamour we all think of when we read or hear about the era – it's all about cocktails by the pool and dancing after sunset in these outfits.

Here are some celebrity and street style looks that evoke the 70s-inspired trend perfectly.

Flared jeans, oversized sunglasses, and a silk shirt ooze relaxed 70s glamour in this casual daywear look (above, left). The high-waisted shorts, fedora hat, and sequined cardigan look (above, right) is the perfect mix of bohemian glamour that we love about the 70s trend.

Kristen Bell wears a white cape and floppy hat for a 70s-inspired outfit.

The 70's also celebrated wider shapes, like maxi skirts and capes. Kristen Bell's white cape and floppy hat showcase some of the more memorable 70s trends. Her red lipstick adds the perfect touch of glamour!

Nicole Richie has perfected the 70s look, and always in a modern and refreshing way. This mulberry velvet pays homage to the trend, and the elegant draped sleeve adds 70s luxury to an otherwise regular mini dress.  She may be in black, which we'll admit doesn't seem too fitting for the print-crazy 70s vibe, but the elegance of long sleeves with a deep plunging neckline and a strong diamante detail at the bodice is very luxurious and flattering on Amy Adams. Paired with some knee-high boots, this is a look that even Anita Pallenberg could pull off.
